Beskydský biatlon 2026

Beskydský biatlon is a two-person relay race held in the Horečky area of Trojanovice, near Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. It offers amateur runners a practical introduction to biathlon. Each team navigates a hilly forest course and takes aim at biathlon targets using laser carbine rifles, identical to those used in professional competitions. The event takes place in July, focusing on the sport's inherent tension: running pace is secondary to accurate shooting under duress. The course winds past local points of interest near Frenštát, such as the ski jumps, the amphitheater, Rekovice, and a memorial bell tower. Approximately one hundred participants arrive from Moravia and Bohemia, lending the event a regional character rather than that of a major urban competition. The organizers also dedicate the day to promoting bone marrow donation, adding a cause to the team competition.
