Biatlonový závod svobody is a short running-and-shooting race in the Březovce area of Zubří. The start and finish are on a meadow near a cottage. Adults run about 4 km over five laps, stopping four times to shoot with laser biathlon rifles. Children have a 1.2 km version over three laps. The day begins with registration and trial shooting before the children's race, then repeats for adults later in the morning.
The adult race has two standing shooting stages followed by two prone stages, requiring steady legs and controlled breathing after running. Each missed target sends an adult onto a 100-meter penalty loop. Children shoot twice from prone and get a 50-meter loop for each miss. Starts are one minute apart. Much of the route follows a hilly motocross track, making it more rugged than a flat park run. The town of Zubří organizes it for runners, biathlon fans, children, and anyone wanting a low-barrier taste of biathlon without real firearms.
