Čertovskej Wintertrail

Čertovskej Wintertrail is a late-November trail race held in Hamr na Jezeře, a village within the Česká Lípa district of the Liberec Region in the Czech Republic. This winter trail event offers two distances: 16.6 km and 33.3 km. Runners can select a shorter forest run or a longer mountain route. The race is recognized in the UTMB Index, with the 33.3 km distance serving as the primary option, featuring 33.3 km of running and 1,184 meters of elevation gain. The race course is set in a forested and mountainous terrain, emphasizing cold-season trail running capabilities over flat-road speed. Recent participation numbers have been in the low hundreds, not a massive field: 252 individuals completed the 33.3 km distance, and 136 participated in the 16.6 km race. The shorter race saw a slightly higher number of women than men, whereas the longer race attracted a predominantly male field. The event incorporates the phrase “before hibernation,” aligning with its position near the close of the Czech trail running season.
