The Excalibur Race MOON Zámek Duchcov begins by the Duchcov State Castle staircase, with the race headquarters located within the castle grounds at the base of the Ore Mountains. This obstacle course race weekend features MOON, SKY, and HELL formats. Starts are staggered every 30 seconds rather than in a single large wave. The event is limited to 1,000 participants for the entire weekend. The schedule includes competitive OCR RACE starts, more accessible OCR OPEN categories, children's races, events for pairs and teams, age group competitions, and a DOG OCRC race for participants running with dogs.
The courses traverse meadows and paths surrounding the castle, offering clear views of the Ore Mountains, the Bohemian Central Highlands, and the Bílina mining region. The race employs a bracelet penalty system. OCR RACE participants are issued three white bracelets and one black one; failure to complete an obstacle results in losing bracelets and incurring time penalties. OCR OPEN, DOG OCRC, and KIDS II participants use one white bracelet, with two minutes added to their time for each infraction. The KIDS I category is more forgiving, allowing children to retry obstacles or perform squats if they cannot complete one. Registration covers certified obstacles, electronic timing, on-course refreshments, photographs, a finisher medal, and racer amenities including changing rooms, showers, camping, catering, parking, and a children's entertainment area.
