About this race
The Bystřická stage is a hilly course of the Moravský Ultramaraton, taking place in and around Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. It begins at the Museum on the town square, with the starting shot fired by the mayor. This stage is positioned near the end of the series, preceding the final Cimrmanova stage. The participants are divided into two starting waves. In the source race, 63 runners started this stage, bringing the series total to 156 starters, a 36 percent increase by the penultimate stage.
The route initially leads to Karasín, where runners encounter the first aid station and reach the highest point near a lookout tower at 712 m elevation. From there, it descends sharply into Vír, losing approximately 250 m over about 3.5 km, before turning onto a steep yellow hiking trail towards Pivonice. This section gains over 200 m in 2 km. That yellow trail, with its rocky and broken terrain, earned the nickname “Šikula’s revenge,” named after organiser Ivo Šikula, who designed the initial 13 km of the course. The stage accumulates about 1,070 m of climbing, with descents through meadows and open vistas providing contrast to the more rugged sections.
