About this race
Podzimním Železnorudskem - Belvederské okruhy is an autumn running race in Železná Ruda, located in the Šumava mountains on the Czech side. It is part of the Ešus league, hosting one of the league’s two races within the Danube basin. The men's course covers 8 km, the women's 5 km, and children compete in separate categories. Tatran Železná Ruda organizes this event, which has been held annually since 1990.
The race now utilizes the Belvederské cross-country ski circuits, a route adopted after the Spring Železnorudsko event was canceled. Previous course descriptions mention a start and finish on the school sports-field track, proceeding through town towards Debrník, and a loop initiated after a railway crossing. Men completed this loop twice, and women once. That crossing presented a distinct local characteristic, as participants were cautioned to manage their return timing to avoid encountering a train before the finish. In conjunction with the spring race, the combined results determined the top runner of the Železná Ruda basin each year.
