Sametový běh

Sametový běh is a community running event in Odolena Voda, a town in the Prague-East District of Central Bohemia. It is held each November on the Czech freedom holiday. The main race begins at the football field at 11:17, a deliberate nod to the date, with 5 km and 10 km options named Pětka and Desítka. The event also features short children's races and a family run, catering to local runners and families with children. The race is promoted with the phrase “běžíme okolo Odolky,” meaning runners go around Odolka, the local nickname for Odolena Voda. On-site registration opens in the morning, runners receive chip-timed bibs, and the town sports commission organizes the day. The atmosphere is relaxed and local: changing rooms and showers are available, parking is by Penny Market, and after the finish, runners receive tea, mulled wine, and homemade cake.
