Slatinský kros is an autumn cross-country race held in Terénky park in Brno-Slatina since 2007. It began as a children’s race and has grown into the South Moravian Region’s largest children’s cross-country event, featuring categories for participants from toddlers to adults. A three-person relay is also part of the program, offering more than just individual races.
The course consists of grass and gravel paths, incorporating short ascents, short descents, numerous turns, a sandy stretch, and wooden obstacles. This design creates a true park cross-country course, distinct from a flat road race. Initially, the race offered categories solely for children up to 15 years old, but it later expanded to include teenagers, juniors, and adults in its initial years. Following a temporary relocation to the local school, the event returned to the renovated Terénky park, with the start and finish lines now situated in their original location. Over 500 runners have completed a single edition, and the Běh na Strandu, a related event, takes place in Brno-Slatina the week following Slatinský kros.
