About this race
The Sokol Run of the Republic in Kutná Hora takes place at the T. J. Sokol stadium on Tyršova Street, coinciding with the Czech statehood holiday commemorating the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia. This event is part of the national Sokol Running of the Republic series, where children and adults use the holiday for running competitions. The Kutná Hora event began with 150 registered participants, including 75 adults in the main six-kilometer race.
The adult course is a marked path leading from the Sokol grounds to Kuklík and returning. Children compete in three shorter races: 0.25, 0.6, and 0.9 kilometers. The youngest participants complete one lap of the oval track, while older children navigate additional grassy inclines. The oldest group runs two oval laps along with the same climb. Despite adverse weather conditions that firmed the ground, all participants completed the races without injury. Prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers, as well as the fastest male and female Sokol members, connecting the local race to the movement's historical ties with Sokols who served in the World War I legions.
