About this race
Žhavé běhy is a set of summer road races in Uherské Hradiště, held as part of the Slovácké léto festival in late June. The program gives runners three plain choices: Žhavá "5" for 5 km, Žhavá "10" for 10 km, and Žhavá "21" for 21 km, also listed locally as Pětka, Desítka, and Půlmaraton. The race is in its tenth edition, with Marek Pochylý named as organizer.
The routes send runners through the historic center of Uherské Hradiště, then out by the Morava River and into the local forest park. The longest distance continues as far as the lakes at Nové Sady, so the half marathon gets more variety than the shorter city-and-river options. It is a festival race rather than a stand-alone athletics meet, so runners share the day with the wider Slovácké léto atmosphere in town.
