About this race
The Gederner Stadtlauf is a town race held in Gedern, Hessen. The start, finish, and registration are located on Lauterbacher Strasse, near Kirchplatz. The event offers races of 500 m, 1,500 m, 5 km, and 10 km, accommodating children, youth runners, beginners, and competitive athletes. This marks the 24th edition of the race. The route crosses Gedern’s historic old town, deviating from a typical sports-ground loop.
The longer races consist of four laps on a 2.5 km circuit, simplifying spectating and runner repetition for the 5 km and 10 km distances. The course incorporates the Eisenpfad, Basaltweg, Barbarossaweg, and Furstenweg. It features a climb to Schlossberg, the cobbled Schlosshof, and the Schlossgarten, adding character compared to a flat road race. Changing facilities are provided at the Gedern gymnasium on Franseckystrasse.
