24. Kirschlauf

At the Kirschlauf, the Thuringian Cherry Queen traditionally fires the starting pistol and presents prizes. The race takes place in Kleinfahner, Gotha district, Thuringia, near the Fahner Höhe, organized by USV Erfurt. This June event features a 14 km main race, a 4.5 km Jedermannlauf for general participants, and a 1 km Schülerlauf for schoolchildren. The first Kirschlauf attracted 147 participants with the slogan “Wer läuft erlebt was,” meaning “Whoever runs experiences something.” The event now includes Nordic walking, an XXL option, and a 300 m Bambinilauf for very young children. The participants range from toddlers and school runners to club athletes. It also contributes to the TLV-Laufcup, adding a competitive aspect to the village race traditions centered around the mill and the Cherry Queen.
