About this race
The Bönnigheimer Stromberglauf is an autumn running event held in Bönnigheim, situated at the foot of the Stromberg in Baden-Württemberg. The event begins and concludes at the Strombergkeller on Cleebronner Straße, featuring 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km races suitable for children, casual runners, club runners, and more competitive athletes. LG Neckar-Enz is the organizer, with assistance from the city of Bönnigheim, TSV Bönnigheim, local sponsors, and nearly a hundred volunteers. The participants are primarily recreational runners, with recent events attracting over a thousand runners and hundreds of spectators.
The typical course winds through Bönnigheim’s town center, although variations may direct the race onto different paths around the Strombergkeller. The 5 km race is fast and mostly flat, passing through fields, meadows, and residential streets with approximately 20 meters of elevation gain. The 10 km race presents more of a challenge, including an initial 60-meter climb past vineyard huts offering views toward Michaelsberg before descending back towards Bönnigheim. The 2 km children’s race remains near the Strombergkeller and can attract a substantial number of young participants, with over 300 children in one recent event. Drummers from Kulturfenster Bönnigheim provide a lively atmosphere on the flatter sections of the 10 km course, and the finish area offers grilled food, coffee, cake, and wine tasting from Weingärtner Stromberg-Zabergäu.
