About this race
The Dreiwiesellauf is a relay race starting and finishing at the Auestadion in Wesel, organized by Weseler TV. Teams of three run a 5 km loop. The event has a strong school-and-club atmosphere: before the race, the football field is used for group warm-ups accompanied by music, and the stadium is already active by mid-morning.
The race was revived after a one-year hiatus and a decline in entries; the updated format revitalized the event. In the most recent edition, 109 three-person teams finished the 5 km loop. Organizer Dieter Jantz stated that the relay program involved nearly 1,000 participants in total. A telling detail from the day: Jantz observed groups of children cycling to the stadium early in the morning, which affirmed to him that the club was achieving something meaningful with the Dreiwiesellauf.
