About this race
The ABUS Trail 24h begins at 6 PM on a Friday from the Genkel parking lot in Gummersbach-Lantenbach, running for a full day around the Agger and Genkel. It is a charity trail event; participants aim to complete as many laps as they wish or are able, and they may run, walk, or hike. Individuals can enter solo or as a team, with awards for the most laps by men, women, and teams.
The route options circle either the Genkeltalsperre or the Aggerhalbinsel, with the day structured around repeated loops rather than a single fixed distance. Lap counting uses wristbands distributed at the parking lot, where participants also register their entry and exit. ABUS Kransysteme created the event, and one prior edition saw 100 participants cover over 4,000 kilometers collectively. The Saturday program includes a non-timed family lap, children’s activities, local club information booths, and club presentations, contributing to the event’s atmosphere as a community fundraiser alongside an endurance test.
