About this race
The Königseer Stadtwaldlauf, a late-summer running and walking event in Königsee, Thuringia, begins and ends at Waldseebad Königsee. This is an off-track race, not a stadium event. The morning program offers options for nearly all ages: a 400 m Bambini run, children’s races over 1.2 km and 1.8 km, a 5.5 km Jedermannlauf, 11.5 km running and Nordic Walking, and a 20.5 km run.
The shorter adult routes and the Nordic Walking course are hilly, presenting a challenge beyond a flat time trial. The 5.5 km race is the open entry option, separate from KRL and Sparkassencup scoring. The 11.5 km run is open to the JU18 age group and older, while the 20.5 km run is for the main class and senior runners. The race is part of the Sparkassencup and the TLV Lauf- und Walking-Cup. It uses disposable GO-timing transponders. The local arrangements are straightforward: water and tea are available on the course and at the finish, with changing rooms, limited showers, and nearby parking. The Stadt Königsee organizes the event with the endurance running department of SV Thuringia Königsee.
