About this race
The Laacher See Naturlauf is a public running event at Laacher See in Rhineland-Palatinate, held on the third weekend in September. The organizing club has been organizing fun runs since 1980, and the race series focuses on sustainability, environmental protection, mindfulness, inclusion, and integration.
The course is set within Rhineland-Palatinate's largest nature reserve, so the organizers adhere to strict environmental rules: no aluminum, minimal plastic, environmentally conscious travel, and efficient logistics. They omit an on-course refreshment station due to past issues with discarded cups, lead mindfulness exercises before the start, and include a 2,200-meter relay for people with and without disabilities under the motto "Sport & Fun - Experience movement with and without disabilities."
