About this race
The Rothaar-Waldlauf is an autumn forest race held in and around Aue-Wingeshausen, near Bad Berleburg in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the fifth race in the Rothaar-Laufserie AOK Cup, which is marking its 25th anniversary season. TSV Aue-Wingeshausen organizes the event, welcoming both runners and walkers. This marks the 53rd running of the race, establishing it as a long-standing local tradition.
The primary routes are cross-country point-to-point courses, with additional loop options available. The longer courses traverse the ridge of the Rothaarsteig, offering views over Wittgensteiner Land and into the Sauerland region. Participants are transported to the starting points via a bus shuttle, with refreshments provided along the course and at the finish. Post-race food includes traditional German offerings such as cake and waffles, alongside various french fry options.
