About this race

The Göltzschtal Marathon begins and ends at the VfB Lengenfeld 1908 stadium in Lengenfeld, located in Germany's Vogtland region. VfB Lengenfeld 1908 e.V. organizes this event, which holds the distinction of being Germany's third oldest marathon and incorporates a state road-running championship. The event caters to a range of participants, offering a full 42.195 km marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km race, a 5 km race, a 1.5 km children's run, and a 10 km Nordic Walking option. The routes traverse the Göltzsch Valley in an out-and-back format, primarily utilizing flat cycle paths and park trails with a combination of asphalt and softer park surfaces. These courses are officially measured and certified by the German Athletics Association, making the longer distances suitable for participants aiming for official times and for local families. Aid stations are positioned every 5 km, and the German Red Cross offers medical assistance at the finish line. Timing is managed using disposable transponders integrated into the race bibs. All participants completing a race receive a medal. The top male and female finishers in the marathon and half marathon events are awarded the District Administrator's Cup, with additional cups presented to age-group winners.
