Allgäu Panorama Marathon 2026

The Allgäu Panorama Marathon is a mountain running weekend based in Sonthofen, in Germany's Bavarian Allgäu region. Runners can choose from several distances, from a 600 m kids' run and 5 km race up to the 18.3 km Hörnerlauf, half marathon, marathon, and 69.3 km ultramarathon. The marathon itself is roughly 42 km with about 1,500 meters of climbing, suiting runners who want more than a road marathon but not the full ultra distance. The organizers cap the fields at 600 in the ultra, 1,000 in the marathon, 1,200 in the Hörnerlauf, 1,500 in the half marathon, and 400 in the 5 km race, to manage growth. The course uses the hilly Oberallgäu landscape around Sonthofen, featuring long climbs, runnable sections, and wide views toward the Oberstdorf mountains. In the final kilometers of the marathon, runners see the Grünten, a mountain called the guardian of the Allgäu. The event draws trail runners, marathoners, shorter-distance runners, children, returning regulars, and newcomers. Its site calls Sonthofen the home of the APM, and the race is linked with the Allgäu Legends Club, giving the weekend a local identity.
