About this race
The August Bier Lauf is a small running event in Sauen, Brandenburg, with the start and finish at Papphaus Sauen. It is held every two years by Stiftung August Bier and offers four distances: 625 m for children under 7, 1.9 km for older children, 4.7 km for runners aged 10 and up, and 9.8 km for adults. The field is small by road-race standards, usually under 100 participants, and entry fees are low, from 1 to 6 euros depending on the race.
The race day includes children’s and school runs, a team run, and the adult road race, making it feel more like a local village sports day than a large city event. Runners can register online through the organizer or in person, including on race day, and live results are available at the venue when the internet connection works. Finishers receive medals, printed certificates are issued, age-group trophies are awarded, and the winner’s prize has a practical local twist: firewood for the home stove. Music and Friedländer ice cream are part of the day alongside the running.
