About this race
Belchen Hoch 3 challenges road cyclists to conquer three Belchen summits, crossing the tri-border region near Münstertal in Germany's Black Forest. This one-day event, held in early July, offers three route choices: Belchen Speed at 120 km, Ballon Battle at 220 km, and Der Klassiker at 320 km. The longest route includes approximately 4,200 m of elevation gain, designed for participants who prefer sustained climbs over leisurely rides.
The complete course ascends the German Belchen, Grand Ballon, and Ballon d'Alsace, with vistas of the Black Forest extending towards Markgräflerland. The participants are primarily road cyclists who appreciate mountain passes and extended time in the saddle. With a 15-year legacy, the event is a well-regarded annual three-country ride in the area. Its straightforward draw: each turn and every meter demands significant effort, yet rewards riders with satisfaction.
