Bonn sits on the Rhine's left bank with rolling terrain rising toward the Siebengebirge hills to the east; the Ride To The Hills Gravel-Ride and Campus Cycling Circuit both exploit this accessible elevation gain within 30km. Runners favour the Rhine Valley towpath for flat long runs, but the real action for road cyclists is the hilly randonneurs circuit—the 3. Sankt Augustiner RTF climbs steadily through the Rhineland plateaus, gaining 1500m+ over its 134km route. The city itself is pancake-flat around the Hofgarten and Alter Zoll riverfront, but serious training rides head into the forested climbs around Uckerath and Siegburg just south and southeast.
