EWE-Nordseelauf

SAT, June 20, 2026 · Nordseeküste , Germany

About this race

The EWE-Nordseelauf is an eight-day stage race across the seven East Frisian islands on Germany’s Lower Saxony North Sea coast. Each stage is approximately 10 km, and the event is open to runners, walkers, and Nordic walkers. Participants can register for the full island-to-island series, select several stages, or join for a single day, functioning as both a week-long running trip and a standalone coastal race. The event has attracted running enthusiasts for over twenty years, with participants traveling from across Germany and internationally. The route crosses Borkum, Norderney, Baltrum, Juist, Langeoog, Wangerooge, and Spiekeroog, featuring flat courses primarily on gravel paths and asphalt, with some beach sections. Each kilometer is marked, and courses are pre-measured by GPS. The race originated from an initiative by Kirche im Tourismus, which continues to co-organize it. Its religious affiliation is notably present for a running event: the motto “Don’t stop – run against violence” has been integral since the beginning, accompanied by brief spiritual reflections before award ceremonies, a church service, and announcements on the inter-island ferries.
