About this race
The Gögerltrail is a trail race held in March in Weilheim in Oberbayern, organized by Postsportverein Weilheim. All races conclude at Am Gögerl. The primary distance covers approximately 12.5 to 13 km with 280 meters of elevation gain. This race also functions as the Oberbayerische Trail-Meisterschaft and a district championship. A 7k option is available, featuring 180 meters of climbing, alongside an Einsteigerlauf designed for novice trail runners.
The course presents rolling terrain, not flat stretches, meaning even the shorter race requires participants to navigate consistent ascents and descents. The event has attracted record participation, with registration previously closing once the participant cap was met. A race account effectively conveyed the local atmosphere: number pickup proceeded under a grey sky as race director Lothar Kirsch stated the sun had been requested, and it appeared before the start. Another report mentioned a championship race where the eventual winner took an incorrect route, allowing a local runner to secure a bronze medal.
