About this race
The Göttinger Altstadtlauf is an evening road-running event in Göttingen, Germany, featuring short laps through the historic old town. Organized by LG Göttingen, the event offers races for all ages, from young children to 5K and 10K distances. The youngest participants run a 700-meter old-town lap, while school races cover 1.7 and 2.2 kilometers. With limits of 300, 600, and 1,000 starters for children's and school categories, the early evening has a distinct local-school atmosphere.
The Firmencup stands out as the most active and unique race on the schedule. This 5K event consists of two and a half laps of the old town and is divided into two starts because of its large number of participants. It is exclusively for current employees of companies, public bodies, schools, institutes, and similar organizations, with family members and former employees ineligible for scoring. Each company's four quickest runners form its first team, the next four its second team, and so forth. The top-placing workplace earns a traveling trophy, and a company that wins four consecutive times retains the cup.
