About this race
Herbstwaldlauf SC Tegeler Forst is Berlin’s oldest cross-country run, taking place at Sportplatz Heidenheimer Straße in Berlin-Hermsdorf on the first Sunday of Advent. This late-autumn club race offers 1.9 km, 3.8 km, 6 km, and 11 km distances for children, students, and adults. The field is typically mid-sized, between 501 and 1,000 runners, creating a local, busy atmosphere without the scale of a large city race.
The race is also known as the Gunni-Sachs-Gedenklauf, honoring Stephan “Gunni” Sachs and his contributions to the club. The organizers describe it as a traditional year-end run focused on running, enjoyment, Christmas stollen, and tea. This reflects its character: competitive enough for chip timing and inclusion in the Berliner Läufercup, yet still grounded in club traditions. Registration is available online or on-site, with post-race amenities including refreshments, changing rooms, showers, and online certificates.
