Horster Löwenlauf

The Horster Löwenlauf is a local running event in Gelsenkirchen, in Germany's Nordrhein-Westfalen region, with races from 5 to 10 kilometers. It is a young series, preparing its second edition, and it is built for more than one kind of runner: there is a 10 km run, a 5 km run and walk, a children's and youth race, and a Bambini run for the youngest kids. Zukunft Horst e.V. is involved in organizing the event, and the race is now set for International Children's Day, which fits the family-heavy program. The Löwenlauf was first planned alongside an open Sunday shopping event, but feedback from visitors and local businesses led the organizers to separate the two, so the race can stand on its own in the Horst district.
