About this race
Lennestadt läuft begins and concludes at the Altenhundem town hall, with various running categories arranged annually by volunteers from the Lennestadt City Sports Association. The event, in its fifth year, is designed for the entire community, welcoming children, older participants, solo runners, schools, clubs, companies, groups, and neighborhood teams.
The inaugural run extended from Altenhundem to Meggen, and participation has grown since the pandemic. Organizers anticipate over 1,000 registrations, supported by the city's Gymnasium, which intends to field approximately 650 students in pink shirts to protest racism. Each participant receives a transponder for electronic timing, with awards presented after each race category. The finish area offers participants a complimentary drink, waffles, coffee, slush ice, grilled sausages, a bouncy castle for children, and a small post-run gathering following the final awards ceremony.
