Megamarsch Nürnberg
Distances
50km
About this race
Megamarsch Nuremberg is a 50 km extreme hiking event held in autumn. Participants have 12 hours to complete the course, focusing on finishing rather than competition. The event begins and ends at Jedermannsportplatz. This Nuremberg route is one of the flatter Megamarsch courses, making it a practical option for individuals new to this type of challenge. The broader Megamarsch series takes place in Germany, Austria, and Mallorca, with varying distances offered; some locations feature a 100 km option within 24 hours, while Nuremberg utilizes the 50 km format.
The Nuremberg course includes the Max-Morlock-Stadion and segments along the Ludwig-Donau-Main-Canal, supported by four aid stations approximately every 10 km. The route is shared on Komoot two days prior to the march and marked by bicycle around the same time. Minor adjustments may occur shortly before the event due to local conditions. As there is no ranking, the objective is to finish the distance within the allotted time. Participants receive a hiking pass with stamps at the start and finish, a certificate from the second aid station, and a medal upon completing the 50 km. Finishers are also eligible for the Hall of Fame. The Megamarsch brand originated with an extreme hike in Cologne and now attracts an average of 1,000 participants per event, including charity walkers, first-time participants, and seasoned long-distance hikers.
