About this race
The Mittsommernachtslauf CVJM Dhünn is an early-evening running event in Dhünn, a village district of Wermelskirchen located about five kilometers southeast of the town center. CVJM Dhünn e.V. organizes the event, with the youngest runners starting first in a 1.5 km Bambini race, followed by 3 km, 6 km, 10 km, half marathon, and Nordic Walking events. The longer 10 km and half marathon routes feature a cross-country character, indicating this is not solely a flat road-race evening.
Dhünn is situated in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and derives its name from the Kleine Dhünn river, which flows into the Große Dhünntalsperre reservoir. The event provides local families, walkers, short-distance runners, and half marathoners a shared program, with team awards divided between smaller organizations and groups of 50 or more members. The village has deep historical roots: the old Kirchspiel Dhünn was once part of Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen, and its parish transitioned from Catholic to Lutheran in the late sixteenth century.
