About this race
The Potzberg-Berglauf is an 8.2 km mountain run from Gimsbach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, ascending to the Potzberg area. It begins at the edge of Gimsbach on the road toward Neunkirchen, climbing 350 meters before concluding at the parking lot near the Potzbergturm. The race takes place in the afternoon and is organized by Turn- und Sportverein Glan-Münchweiler 1922 e.V.
The route follows asphalted country roads, proceeding from Gimsbach via Neunkirchen and Föckelberg to the Potzberg parking area. It is a road race with a consistent uphill mountain-run profile, not a trail event. First conducted in 1985, it is part of the Pfälzer Berglauf-Pokal cup and features adult and youth divisions, with U16, U18, and U20 categories for boys and girls. The organizers arrange for bag and clothing transport to the finish, a practical service for a point-to-point uphill course. Material prizes are given to the overall winners, and the three fastest runners in each age group also receive awards.
