About this race
The Prellsteinrennen takes runners on a 12 km winter cross/trail route in Etzelwang, Germany, held on the last Sunday in January. This compact yet demanding race in the Nürnberger Land region features at least five significant climbs integrated into hiking paths, field tracks, and some off-road sections. MTP Hersbruck organizes the event, having done so since 2013.
The course is linked to the Prellstein, a 544 m mountain featuring the protected Prellsteinjoch cave. Cold weather is expected, but the most unusual aspect of the race is not physical: participants must answer three questions during the run. The event has a history spanning over sixty years, depends on volunteer support, and attracts consistent interest, with recent editions filling all available starting spots.
