About this race
Rats-Runners Schleusingen directs participants from the center of a small Thuringian town into mud, slopes, ravines, and obstacles. This 10 km Adventure Run takes place in Schleusingen, Germany, typically in late July with an afternoon start, and is part of the Rats-Runners Cup. The format combines obstacle racing, trail running, and cross-country running, emphasizing movement over rough terrain and overcoming natural and constructed barriers rather than just road pace. The event welcomes all ages, including children and adults together.
The course begins in town, crosses the market square, passes Bertholdsburg Castle, and then enters natural terrain before returning. Runners will encounter steep clay-mud hills, ravines, and a circuit marked by kilometre signs, with aid stations along the route and at the finish. The race debuted in 2020 and is organized by RGZV Henneberger Land Laufbewerbe. Practical arrangements are considerate of runners: online entry is available, late in-person registration is permitted, and parking, showers, changing rooms, and a free bag drop are offered. Finishers receive medals, and age-group winners are awarded trophies.
