About this race
At Chemnitz's Richard-Hartmann-Platz, thousands of employees gather for the schnelleStelle.de Firmenlauf Chemnitz, a short company team run held in early September. The main distance is 4.8 km, with start and finish at the square, and the atmosphere is more like a workplace social than a competitive race. Running fast is not the objective: companies participate to show unity, display their name on shirts, and provide colleagues from different departments a chance to connect outside the office. Walkers are welcome, so the event is designed for office teams, managers, reception staff, factory workers, and anyone else from the regional workforce who wishes to participate without the pressure of a demanding race.
The route includes a loop around the Schlossteich, with bands and cheerleaders providing entertainment along the way. A notable aspect is the costume culture: firms are encouraged to stand out, whether by arriving in large numbers or dressing as batteries, phone booths, or the company mascot. Organizers refer to it as Chemnitz's "somewhat different networking party," fitting for a run where business cards are effectively printed on race shirts. The event has been held since 2006 and is organized by Die Sportmacher GmbH, with fields large enough to reach well into five figures.
