About this race
The Wössner Halbmarathon begins and ends at the Sportverein Unterwössen clubhouse in Unterwössen, a Bavarian village within the Chiemgau Alps. The primary event is a 21.1 km half marathon. Additionally, there is a 7 km Volkslauf for those seeking a shorter distance, and children’s races of 400 m and 1000 m. The children’s events commence in the morning, with the half marathon starting at 10:00. SV 1956 Unterwössen e.V. organizes the entire event.
The course runs alongside the Tiroler Ache river, with the Chiemgauer Alps providing a scenic backdrop. Over 40 percent of both the half marathon and the 7 km course consists of forest and trail paths, offering a gentler surface compared to an all-road route. This is a modest regional race, not a large urban event, with an anticipated participation of 101 to 300 runners; the previous half marathon had 121 finishers. The event features professional timing, catering, partner prizes for adult runners, and medals, trophies, and prizes for all participating children.
