About this race
Winterlauf Aachen is a point-to-point winter road and trail race of approximately 16 km, starting at Bürgerhaus Venwegen and finishing at the Aachener TG sports ground on Am Chorusberg in Aachen. The current route length is due to flood-related restrictions near Mulartshütte, leading the race to follow marked roads and paths through the Voreifel and Aachen urban area, deviating from a longer traditional course. It is open to participants U18 and older, with distinct categories for U18, U20, men, women, and masters.
The course proceeds through Kornelimünster via the Vennbahntrasse, with runners encountering a refreshment station at Bahnhofsvision around the 6 km mark. It then continues towards another aid station near Monschauer Straße before concluding at Chorusberg. A bus transfer from the finish to the start is provided with registration, a necessary convenience as the course does not form a loop. The Aachener TG race, now in its 62nd edition, accommodates up to 2,500 participants, marks each kilometre, and incorporates team scoring based on cumulative times.
