About this race
Centimeter Maraton is a Danish children's run where the "marathon" is scaled down to 42,195 centimeters, approximately 422 meters. Organized by Børneulykkesfonden with Rasmus Klump, it is designed for children aged 2 to 10, with parents or grandparents welcome to accompany them on the route. Editions have taken place in locations like Fælledparken in Østerbro and Museumspladsen in Vejen; the Vejen race is connected to the autumn holidays.
The event mirrors adult marathon traditions on a smaller scale: children receive race numbers, Rasmus Klump shirts or reflective vests, a group warm-up, a start and finish archway, snacks, water, diplomas, and gold medals. Some children run independently, others with an adult, and strollers are permitted. After finishing, runners receive high-fives, hugs, and photos with Rasmus Klump. In Vejen, participants also gain free entry to the Rasmus Klump exhibition at the Vejen Art Museum and enjoy pancakes prepared by the local nature conservation association.
