About this race
GUUT Winter Edition is a Danish winter ultra centered in Gilleleje and Kagerup in North Zealand, offering 20 km, 60 km, and 80 km distances. The 80 km race begins at Gilleleje Station, and the 60 km starts at Kagerup Station. The event takes place in January, a time when cold, sub-freezing temperatures, snow, fog, and damp ground are common.
The route largely avoids asphalt, featuring varied terrain with inclines, fields, off-road segments, and water crossings that can quickly become challenging; one participant recounted being submerged chest-deep in a stream early in the race. Runner feedback suggests it is demanding yet compelling: a "long day out, in pain’s safe embrace," featuring the Danish winter scenery, dedicated organizer assistance, encouragement, post-race refreshments, and ample opportunities for memorable experiences.
