About this race
Villa Gallina-løbet is a forest fun run held at Villa Gallina in Hesede Forest on Zealand. Organizers describe it as “Zealand’s most beautiful forest race,” and the location provides its straightforward appeal: marked routes through a hilly woodland, starting and finishing by Villa Gallina. Participants can select 5.5 km, 9.5 km, or 14 km, and children have a free marked course of approximately 1.5 km. The event welcomes all age groups, and the short route is suitable for running or walking without extensive preparation.
The courses utilize wide forest paths, with colored plastic strips indicating the way: white for 5.5 km, blue for 9.5 km, and red for 14 km. The terrain offers a challenge for more experienced runners, while families and older participants can enjoy the shorter distance as a walk in the woods. Timing is managed by chip, with water available on the course and fruit and water at the finish. The race has taken place annually since 1977, with the exception of a two-year break due to corona, establishing it as one of Denmark’s more traditional fun runs.
