The BTT Memorial Iván Herrero is a 48-kilometer mountain-bike race held in Covaleda, Soria province, Spain, within the Sierra de Urbión. Scheduled for June, it is part of a larger BTT/MTB circuit and limits participation to 200 riders. This is not a road ride with some dirt; only 2% of the route is asphalt, with the majority on trails and open cross-country terrain. Participants will climb 1,352 meters and descend the same amount, reaching an elevation of 1,492 meters.
The course winds through pine and oak forests, marked with flagging tape. Volunteers equipped with radios are stationed along the circuit for emergencies. Support includes two liquid aid stations, one solid aid station, chip timing, a cloakroom, showers, and a meal at the finish. The event maintains a local, community atmosphere with a children’s race, awards for winners, a prize raffle, and a barbecue for participants. It also supports a cause through promotion and a portion of the proceeds, and is organized by local Covaleda groups and clubs associated with the Urbión area.
