About this race
The Carrera de la Almendra is a 14 km road race in Chirivel, Almeria, centered around the almond harvest. Organized by the Chirivel City Council sports department and approved by the Andalusian Athletics Federation, it caps participation at 350 runners. A 3-hour time limit accommodates both recreational runners and faster competitors.
The course begins and ends at Plaza Julio Alfredo Egea, crossing Chirivel's streets. Now in its ninth edition, the race maintains its almond theme through prizes: the top three men and women receive trophies, and overall winners are awarded a basket of almonds. Participants get a bib with an electronic chip, a commemorative shirt, and a refreshment bag. The event concludes with a communal lunch for runners and their guests.
