About this race
The Carrera Popular Monumentos is a 5K race held at night in Écija, located in Spain’s Seville province. It begins in Plaza de España and concludes in Plaza de San Juan. The race follows an urban course through the historic centre, with participants given 50 minutes to finish the approximately 5,000-metre route. This event, now in its eighth year, is organized by the Ayuntamiento de Écija and the Hermandad de San Juan.
The course winds through Écija’s most notable central streets, highlighting sites linked to the city’s historical and cultural legacy instead of venturing onto open roads. Participation is limited, with a few hundred runners expected. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each category. The race also supports charity, with the entire registration fee donated to good causes. Additionally, non-perishable food items are gathered for local families facing hardship, and individuals can opt for a “dorsal zero” registration to contribute without participating in the run.
