Backyard Sant Salvador 2026

Backyard Sant Salvador is a mountain-style backyard race held in the Sant Salvador neighborhood of Tarragona, Catalonia. It begins at 10 PM from the Sant Salvador Civic Center. Participants have one hour to finish a loop of just over 6.7 km, with the next loop commencing on the hour. The race has no set finish distance; it continues until no one wishes to start another loop, or until only one runner completes a loop, thereby winning. The course follows paths on the Green Ring surrounding Sant Salvador. The challenge lies not in a single fast effort, but in repeating the same loop while managing rest, nutrition, equipment, and fatigue throughout the night. The Civic Center offers some indoor space, though it is restricted, and participants must supply their own provisions. The inaugural event was known as Backyard Tarragona, adhering to the same straightforward yet demanding principle: return to the start line each hour until endurance determines the outcome.
