Córdoba's running is dominated by flat terrain through the old medina and along the Guadalquivir riverbank, with the Carrera los Califas 10K as the main local event. Cyclists have immediate access to the Sierra Morena hills rising north of the city — the Gran Fondo Sierra Morena (150km) and Vuelta BTT Villanueva de Córdoba (73km) tap into serious climbing country with gravel and mountain bike routes that gain 800–1200m elevation. The city sits at 120m elevation on Andalusia's central plateau, making it a natural basecamp for regional stage racing and trail events across the broader Califa region.
