About this race
La Cursa Popular de la Sagrera is a neighborhood road race in Barcelona’s Sagrera district, offering children’s races alongside 5 km and 10 km options for adults. It originated from a children’s event added to the Sagrera Festa Major before opening to runners of all ages, leading organizers to call it Barcelona’s oldest popular race. While the Jean Bouin has more editions, it was once restricted to registered athletes, whereas Sagrera was established with broader participation in mind.
The route has adapted to ongoing construction for the future AVE station, making the current course significant for providing runners a consistent, clear path through the area. Its distances are certified by the Catalan Athletics Federation, and the race is part of the Lliga Championchip calendar. The event maintains a local, volunteer-driven character: it gradually introduced practical runner services like cloakroom and showers, contributes one euro per participant to the Marató de TV3, and collaborates with the NGO T’Acompanyem.
