Desafío Meracho starts runners in Mirones, a Cantabrian village, on challenging trail routes featuring grooved concrete ascents, road segments, and mountain paths. Held in early October, it provides 32 km, 15 km, and 12 km distances. The longest race holds a UTMB Index 50K qualification and approximately 2,000 to 2,100 meters of elevation gain.
The 32 km course is characterized as a mini “Anillo del Miera.” The 15 km race, with 961 meters of climbing, hosts the Cantabria Speed Trail Championship. The 12 km option includes 650 meters of ascent but has no cut-off times and is designated non-competitive, offering a more accessible entry for less experienced mountain runners. Descending sections require careful footing, and the final approach follows tracks back to the finish.
