The EDP San Fermín Marathon is an evening race in Pamplona, following an urban circuit slightly over 10 km. The half marathon is 21 km, requiring runners to complete two laps, beginning at Plaza del Castillo and ending at the Plaza de toros de Pamplona. The route was modified to decrease the total elevation gain to 125 meters, a revision implemented following participant input from prior events.
The event utilizes the same central-city loop for multiple formats, integrating the half marathon into a broader race night instead of a separate start. Marathon runners navigate four laps, relay teams of four each cover one lap, the Fiesta race spans one lap, and the Kiliki race offers a shorter 5 km distance. Bib colors distinguish the participants: blue for the half marathon, red for the marathon, yellow for the relay, and green for the Fiesta race. Relay handoffs occur back at Plaza del Castillo, maintaining the primary race action within Pamplona's core.
