Galipa Swim 2026

Galipa Swim is an open-water swim taking place in October within the port of Zierbena, located in Bizkaia on Spain's Basque coast. The primary events are 2K swims for men, women, and disabled participants, alongside a shorter 0.4K Promesas Zierbena race intended for younger or developing swimmers. The Zierbena City Council is the organizer, and the port's location provides accessibility for both newcomers to open water and more experienced swimmers. The course begins and concludes in the Port of Zierbena, with the entire swim contained within the port's boundaries. This is significant as the water is shielded from waves and currents, offering a controlled end-of-season competition rather than a challenging sea swim. Bib collection, the aid station, and the awards area are situated in the port's pedestrian zone, maintaining the race center near the water. The event also maintains historical results and a photo and video archive, preserving a record beyond the day of the race.
