The Ter Bike Experience 55k is a point-to-point mountain bike race in Girona province. It begins at Girona-Pavello Fontejau and concludes in L'Estartit on the Costa Brava. The event is scheduled for a Sunday in early June, with the exact date unconfirmed. This marks the 14th edition of the race, which has a rider limit of 200 and uses chip timing. The 55 km course connects Girona and L'Estartit, taking participants from the city towards the coast. The organizer provides three drink stations and four food stations. Amenities include a cloakroom, showers, massage service, post-race food, and a prize raffle. Club Open Natura-Tracks Tours is the organizer, contributing to the event's atmosphere as a focused local BTT ride rather than a large-scale festival.

Running: Runners in Girona-Salt get trails fast, and you can be running in these trails within minutes of leaving the city walls. The Onyar River gives the city centre an easy base-miles line before the hills start. The Gavarres gives locals more than 100 km of trails for Z2, intervals, and longer mountain days. Sisterhood Running Club meets every Wednesday at 7pm at the Fontajau Pavilion, then runs 5 to 10 km routes around Girona. The club uses Sundays for longer runs through the city and its surroundings. Cursa de Muntanya de Girona, 39a Marxa Popular de Montilivi, Trail l'Enxerinada 15K, Cursa de la Dona Girona, and Oxfam Intermón Trailwalker Girona give the calendar its anchor-race feel.
Cycling: Riders in Girona-Salt get the good stuff in every direction, from flat plains to proper climbs. The Girona plain gives locals circular routes through well-kept agricultural surroundings, while the Empordà Plain gives coastal and inland riding through medieval villages. The River Ter loop suits mountain bikes or gravel bikes and stays mostly flat beside the water. Rocacorba is 6 km at a 7% average grade with 605 m of elevation gain. Sant Marti goes up and up, and locals treat it like the 20-minute power test. Ter Bike Experience 55k, Gironès MTB Challenge, Girona MTB Singletrack - 3 etapes, LaTramun, and Sgrail 100 keep the racing side sharp.
Season: Girona-Salt works almost all year, and locals lean into the 300-plus sunny days instead of overthinking the season. The best riding and running days hit that late-teens Celsius feeling, warm enough for arms and legs out but not hot enough to wreck the session. Summers sit around 27 to 33°C, and the city can get up to 15 hours of daylight, so early runs, evening Z2, and long gravel days all make sense. Winter changes the rhythm more than the plan. Winter temperatures hover around 5 to 15°C, middle-of-the-day rides can reach the high teens, and December and January still give locals 9 hours of daylight.
